Before starting any treatment at Sunshine Coast Haemotology and Oncology Clinic, your GP or specialist will refer you to one of our Oncologists or Haematologists.

Oncologist

An oncologist is a doctor with special training in the diagnosis and treatment of solid tumour cancers.  You may be referred to an oncologist if you have been diagnosed with cancer or your GP or specialist suspects you may have cancer.

A haematologist is a medical professional who specialises in diagnosing, treating and managing diseases of the blood and blood-producing organs. You may be referred to a haematologist if there has been an abnormality detected in your blood.
